Where is Chopin? ~ Editor, Co-director

Interactive performance and installation on the global presence of Chopin

"This is a marvelous piece. It's worth trekking here just to see this. This is actually a really superb piece of contemporary art that is also a superb tribute to Chopin that is also a truly delightful musical experience."

- Waldemar Juszczak, Art Critic at the London World Premier

As part of international celebrations commemorating the 200th anniversary of Frederic Chopin's birth, "Where is Chopin?" is a performance/installation that looks for traces of Chopin's music in the minds and faces of people from around the world. The perceptions and emotions appearing in people's faces as they listen to Chopin are photographed and later shown in counterpoint with expressive extracts from 24 Preludes Op. 28. The installation version features a player piano and three-screen projection.

To obtain the images, Jarek Kapuscinski travelled to 12 cities around the world holding listening sessions with volunteers. In each country he had the privilege of collaborating with a local photographer or cinematographer. Here they are listed in alphabetical order: Lorena Alcaraz & Bernardo Arcos, Alon Bernstein, Marina Bonavento, Zhong Chen, John Edmark, Sabrina Hyde, John McRae, Bruce Osborn, Kyu-Cheol Shin, Heikki Tuuli , Constanza Garcia Ulibarri, Isil Ünal & Mehmet Erol. The editing and assistant direction credits go to myself and Jason Sussberg.
